RaceBox 0.7.1 released


It's been a while since last release. My family got bigger, and as this is a side project - I didn't have as much time as I wanted to work on RaceBox. I'm happy to announce version 0.7.1 :)

Changelog:

Track editor 0.3.3

Breaking changes (track created in previous versions are incompatible):

  • - Restored previous track resolution (1 pixel = 20cm x 20cm) to allow using L3DT as the heightmap editor
  • - Changed tarmac pixel color from black RGB(0,0,0) to grey RGB(128,128,128) created in previous versions are incompatible):
  • - Fixed heightmap generation which previously made it completely impossible to use L3DT as the heightmap editor

Other changes:

  • - Fixed 3d terrain cursor displayed on the surface of other objects, instead of terrain
  • - Fixed loading track without track image crashing the editor
  • - Fixed heightmap not reloading when reloading the track
  • - Terrain texture is now generated from mask using GPU shaders; gain in performance and saves few MB ;)
  • - When creating new track, its size will be filled with default values
  • - Improved object rotation; when rotating objects, they will face the cursor

Other changes:

  • - Fixed particles (dust etc) being drawn even when wheels weren't touching the ground
  • - Fixed player grid marker was displayed even after the race
  • - Fixed car wheel rotation too fast (graphics only bug)
  • - Fixed shadows of bigger objects dissapearing when they are still inside visible area, but object itself is outside of visible area
  • - Terrain texture is now generated from mask using GPU shaders; gain in performance and saves few MB ;)
  • - Once the race session starts, player input gets locked until lights out
  • - Lowered tyre wear on grass
  • - Added separate "Host game" main menu button, taking the player to server options first
  • - Added "Server" tab in the "Garage" menu with server game port (so you can host the game, and tell your friends which port to connect to)
  • - Sliders in "Rules" menu will now update number values in real-time
  • - Added pitstop time simulation in "Rules" menu
  • - Added dark background to HUD-chat messages
  • - New Noxyto tracks (Long and Short)
  • - Added pit limiter objects and configurable pit speed limit
  • - Added few objects: trees and person
  • - Added new terrain types:
    • - gravel
    • - paint (black)
  • - Updated existing particles (dust, grass) and added one for gravel
  • - Updated terrain colors slightly
  • - Updated car physics slightly
